Marin Transit Recognized with National Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting
April 5, 2016
2016 Award for Marin Transit’s First Annual Comprehensive Financial Report
For Marin Transit’s first annual comprehensive financial report, the District has received the prestigious Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) award for Excellence in Financial Reporting. The GFOA Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment.
“We are honored to receive the GFOA Award for Excellence on our very first Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. Meeting the GFOA reporting requirements sets a new standard for our agency” -- Nancy Whelan, Marin Transit’s General Manager.
The GFOA presented the award to Amber Johnson, the District’s Senior Accounting and Grants Analyst. The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report is judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story. The GFOA is a non-profit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals in the United States and Canada.
