Route 233 Change
eff. August 5, 2016
Effective Friday, August 5, 2016, Route 233 will be realigned and will no longer serve the stops at Civic Center Dr & Memorial Dr and at Civic Center Dr & N San Pedro Rd (in front of the Post Office). Please use stops on Judge Haley Dr or at Civic Center Dr & N San Pedro Rd across the street from the Post Office.

Route 17 Detour
eff. July 25, 2016
Effective Monday, July 25 – Tuesday, September 27, 2016, Route 17 will not serve Larkspur Landing after 9:00 pm due to construction. Please use alternate stops at the Lucky Dr Bus Pad.

Route 35 – Added Trips
eff. July 17, 2016
Effective Sunday, July 17, 2016, evening service to Novato will be added on Route 35 departing the San Rafael Transit Center at 8:30 pm, 9:30 pm, and 10:30 pm daily. Click here for updated schedules.

Route 49 Schedule Adjustments
eff. July 4, 2016
Effective Monday, July 4, 2016, weekday and weekend schedules for Route 49 will be adjusted to improve on-time performance. Southbound trips will shift five minutes earlier. Click here to download new schedule times.

Route 228 - Marin General
eff. June 27, 2016
The westbound stops at Via Casitas & El Portal and at 1220 S Eliseo are still under construction and will not be served by Route 228 until construction is complete. Please use alternate stops along S. Eliseo or at Marin General.

Route 65
eff. December 9, 2015
Effective Wednesday, December 9, 2015, Route 65 will be discontinued and replaced with a Dial-A-Ride service that operates between Dillon Beach, Tomales, and Petaluma. Click here for more information on this service.

Stored Value Cards
eff. July 1, 2015
Stored Value Cards will no longer be sold after June 30, 2015. They will continue to be accepted as fare payment until further notice.

Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Goal
For Federal Fiscal Years 2017-2019

In accordance with regulations of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), 49 CFR Part 26, Marin County Transit District announces its proposed goal over the following Fiscal Years 2017, 2018, and 2019 goal of 6% for DBE participation on contracts assisted by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).

The proposed goal and its rationale are available for public review for the next 30 days during normal business hours from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the offices of Marin County Transit District, 711 Grand Avenue, Suite 110 in San Rafael, CA 94901, and on our web page at

Written comments will be accepted by Marin County Transit District and FTA for 30 days following publication of this notice. The District’s Federal Fiscal Year 2017-2019 goal may be adjusted by any comments received.

2016 Award for Marin Transit’s First Annual Comprehensive Financial Report

For Marin Transit’s first annual comprehensive financial report, the District has received the prestigious Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) award for Excellence in Financial Reporting. The GFOA Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment.

“We are honored to receive the GFOA Award for Excellence on our very first Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. Meeting the GFOA reporting requirements sets a new standard for our agency” -- Nancy Whelan, Marin Transit’s General Manager.

The GFOA presented the award to Amber Johnson, the District’s Senior Accounting and Grants Analyst. The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report is judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story. The GFOA is a non-profit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals in the United States and Canada.

Muir Woods Shuttle Service Resumes Saturday April 2nd!

The Muir Woods Shuttle will resume service for the 2016 season on Saturday, April 2, 2016. The Shuttle will operate on weekends & holidays through Sunday, October 30 and on weekdays between June 20 and August 12. Click here for maps & schedules.
